CICE is a Fair Trade College

Last year CICE gained Fair Trade status and received its Fair Trade College Certificate.  The Board of Governors and the Students’ Union in the college, recognising their global and educational responsibilities, and wishing to promote through its structures the values of social justice and sustainable development, adopted a policy committing the college to purchasing and serving Fair Trade goods in the college dining hall and in the student shop.

The policy also commits the college to the promotion of Fair Trade goods through the support of Fair Trade Fortnight each year and through its Fair Trade Steering Group.

Fair Trade promotes a fair deal for marginalised producers of a wide range of products including tea, coffee, chocolate, fruit and textiles.

The aim of the College in maintaining its Fairtrade status is to contribute to the understanding among its students and all who come in contact with the College of the interdependent nature of the world and the need to strive for justice and equality for all.
